The Coweta
County Health Department is comprised of the Physical Health and
Environmental Health Divisions. The Physical Health Department protects and promotes
the health of the community by offering preventive and cost effective services
which are family centered and provided in a culturally responsive manner. Physical
health is a fundamental resource for preventing disease and promoting health.
The Coweta County Health Department offers the following services and programs:
Physical Health Services, Adult Health, Family Planning, BreasTest and More, Blood
Pressure Clinic, Immunizations, Child Health, Immunizations, Hearing/Vision/Dental
Examinations, Health Check, School Health, Children First, Womens Health, Pregnancy
Testing, Presumptive Medicaid, Perinatal Case Management, Pregnancy Related Services,
W.I.C., Teen Center, Lab Test, and Tympanogram.
The Family Planning program offers counseling and a comprehensive physical
exam with a pap smear, anemia screening, nutritional counseling, pregnancy testing
if necessary, and several forms of birth control are available. The Blood Pressure
Clinic offers its program for those who are not insured or eligible for Medicaid
and Medicare. Adult vaccines and most travel vaccines are available. Hearing,
Vision, and Dental Examinations are available for children entering public school
kindergarten or Georgia schools for the first time. A complete child health
physical examinations and referral services for children up to age 21 on Medicaid
or Peachcare is available through the Health Check program. An abstinence based
center for teenagers where abstinence skills are taught and encouraged. Health
assessments, nutritional counseling, and referrals are made when necessary.
