Coweta
County Sheriff’s Office
is comprised of the following 3 divisions: Patrol Division, Coweta County Sheriff's
Office Investigations, and Coweta County Sheriff's Office Jail Operations. The
Coweta County Sheriff’s office primary goal is to maintain social order
within prescribed ethical and constitutional guidelines. The Patrol Division consists
of 52 uniformed deputies working twelve hour rotating shifts, changing every 56
days. Each of the four shifts consist of one Watch Commander, one Sergeant, one
Corporal and 10 Patrol Deputies.
Each Watch Commanders is responsible for assigning Personnel to one of six
zones, providing services consisting of crime prevention, traffic control, maintaining
order, investigating crimes, apprehending offenders, responding to emergency
(E911) and non-emergency calls for service, and the needs of the county citizens
and business owners. Law enforcement services by the uniformed deputies are
provided for approximately 442 square miles of unincorporated Coweta County.
The Jail division can house a total of 284 inmates in its modern facility. A
variety of other services are offered by the Sheriff’s office such as
the classes in women's firearm, Women's Self defense, S.A.F.E, and citizen Police
Academy. The S.A.F.E program is a ten week program taught by specialty trained
Coweta County Sheriff’s Deputies. The program is targeted at fifth grade
students.
